LIVE CE Webinar! Breaking Points: Landmark Studies that Shaped Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy, Part 1 - Optimizing Treatment Durations (09 Jun 2026)

Tuesday, June 9, 2026

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm CT/1:00 - 2:00 pm ET

Register

Description:
Rapidly evolving literature on infectious diseases pharmacotherapy makes it challenging for pharmacists and early career physicians (and all providers) to stay familiar with the landmark trials that underpin current treatment practices. A more in-depth understanding of study designs, populations, and applicability can improve clinicians’ ability to evaluate evidence, recognize limitations, and confidently support practice changes. This webinar is the first in a series exploring landmark clinical trials, and focuses on optimization of treatment durations for infectious diseases.
This interprofessional activity is designed for pharmacists and early career infectious diseases physicians involved in the care of patients with infectious diseases or those who participate in antimicrobial decision-making. The content is appropriate for clinicians practicing in inpatient, outpatient, or transitional care settings who seek to enhance their ability to interpret landmark trials and apply evidence-based pharmacotherapy in practice.

Agenda:
Following introductions, speakers will discuss four clinical trials with active learning occurring throughout. The session will end with attendee Q&A.

Target Audience: An interprofessional audience, specifically pharmacists and early career infectious diseases physicians.

Learning Objectives:

Analyze applicability and limitations of landmark trials in infectious diseases pharmacotherapy for the treatment of durations in real-world practice

Describe how findings from landmark trials are adopted or challenged and the barriers to application in practice as related to treatment durations

Apply practical strategies to help interprofessional teams implement evidence-based practices for treatment durations from landmark studies

Faculty:
Allan M. Seibert, MD, AAHIVS
Attending Physician, Assistant Professor
